Absolutely right. If I had a nickel for everyone I saw who thought games testing was a "I want to get paid to play games" dream job & applying for them... I'd probably be pretty rich. They probably didn't have a single one of these skills other than the last. That crowd & the MMORPG first game makers are scary!

Absolutely right. Totally agree with this being a game tester. Testing is not just playing games, its something that people wouldn't have even thought to do in the gameplay. Also one should clearly know all the Gaming terms and conventions and a great knowledge about the terminology used by different companies. And the most important thing is the Patience for the isolation of issues.

"The more Versions, the more the game improves in the Quality."

Good point.

I've personally started looking at all my work from the customer perspective more and more. I'm torn as to whether or not all developers should do this - I often think that they should but then again unrestrained creativity without focusing on an existing customer base sometimes produces amazing results.

I find putting yourself in the mind of the customer helps a lot when trying to decide between a few options on a controversial feature.

This is a solid list Mark. As an ex-tester I agree with every point. If I may add, a great tester should also provide constructive feedback when possible. A lot of the times, we end up putting our heads down and develop tunnel vision on the current task at hand. We end up playing the game in sections rather than the whole and the meta design sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. A good tester should play the consumer and let us know early on if something is great or just plain bad. I'd rather hear it from a tester than the reviewer!
